Illegal Camping in Woodbine Park

September 23, 2014 in Latest Community News Blog, Neighbourhood Alerts Blog

This report is from a Woodbine Park resident. The local councillor has been notified. It would help if more residents called City Hall to get this rectified. 416-392-1376:

There seems to be someone sleeping in the bushes in Woodbine park and they have been rough camping there for a while now.

There is a mattress, empty food containers and quite a lot of garbage, including human waste. Not very pleasant. I hope this can be removed. It’s in the area indicated below, the “camp” can be accessed from the path just south of the circle as a temporary path has been trodden down in the bushes.

Loaded Handgun Seized When Garage Break-in Suspects Arrested

July 10, 2014 in Latest Community News Blog, Neighbourhood Alerts Blog

Police moved quickly and arrested four teens after 14 garages in Woodbine Park were broken earlier this week.  However, these break-ins prove that residents can never be too careful and to never approach suspects when they’re in the act of committing a crime because they may be armed and dangerous.

During the arrest of the teens in a Riverdale basement apartment, police also recovered a loaded handgun and ammunition, along with most of the items stolen from the garages.

Here is the link to the police report:  http://tpsnews.ca/stories/2014/07/bicycle-theft-arrests-uncover-gun/

Please make sure your garage doors are locked and report any suspicious activity to police immediately by calling 911, 416-808-5500 or 416-808-2222.

If your garage was broken into, contact police to see if any of your personal property has been recovered.

Stay safe!
